The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) continues its support for a statewide initiative that assists local residents schedule free rides to local COVID-19 vaccination sites. While not limited to a particular group, the emphasis is placed on linking persons facing transportation challenges, such as disabled or low-income individuals, veterans, and the elderly, with available transportation providers.

Once again, Madison County Library System (MCLS) is excited to bring the Summer Reading Program to the youth of Madison county. Each year, thousands of youth throughout Madison county attend educational and entertaining programs while checking out and reading thousands of books. 

Some want a Heisman, some want a Superbowl ring; the Canton Academy cheerleading squad wants the Banana.

“You can go and watch a balloon fest but until you get close enough to feel the heat and smell the propane, you ain’t been there yet,” said Ken Johnston, pilot and hot air balloon meister for the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Festival. 

Mississippi's State Parks are known for offering unique, affordable opportunities for family summer outings, from boating to picnicking. In addition to these recreational and nature-based activities, a couple of state parks offer Fourth of July celebration events:

The Honors program at Hinds Community College’s Raymond Campus recently held their commencement ceremonies.

Kelvon Johnson, senior at Canton Academy, recently signed a baseball scholarship with Hinds Community College.

The Madison County Business League and Foundation (MCBL&F) Young Professionals hosted a professional development forum luncheon on Wednesday, May 5, at Georgia Blue in Madison.  The keynote speaker was Candie Simmons, SVP and Geography Marketing Strategist for Regions Bank.  The title of her presentation was “Developing Your Personal Brand.”
