Chrishanda Jackson, president of the Canton Chamber of Commerce said, “It’s so important to have a Chamber of Commerce, because we can represent the interests of Chamber members in front of city councils or other local agencies. The Chamber of Commerce also hosts local networking events or promotions designed to spur business growth in the area.”
The Chamber board consists of President Chris Jackson, Vice President Comelia Walker, Treasurer Bradford Blackmon, and members Monica Gilkey, Lisa Ward, Lawrence Blackmon and Valencia Beamon.
Canton used to be a part of the Mississippi Main Street Association. The Mississippi Main Street Association is a state-coordinated program of Main Street America, which empowers Mississippi’s local Main Street leaders to create vibrant places and thriving economies by implementing the Main Street Approach.
Since the disbandment of the previous Chamber, the Canton Main Street Association also dissolved. According to Jackson, an attempt will be made to revive the program.
Jackson said there are several Canton Chamber of Commerce events to look forward to, including a clean-up day, business pop-up shops on the square, business after hours and more.
