Canton baseball teams primed for playoff success

Both Canton High School (CHS) and Canton Academy (CA) have seen major success and growth this baseball season.

The CHS Tigers have made the playoffs this season and according to Head Coach Dex Brim, “We have three guys that have never played at this level and several guys that have played out of position to help the team succeed. We have five freshmen and one eighth grader, that’s six out of ten players but we fought like a team full of seniors at times. The regular season was full of ups and downs but we’ve learned from it all. Now, we’re prepping for the playoffs and will try to upset the team that’s placed in front of us. We’re not done yet! Go Tigers!”

CA recently advanced to the second round of the playoffs defeating Lamar Christian 5-0 at Stuart Smith Stadium to sweep the best-of-three series in the first round of the MAIS baseball playoffs at Canton. The Panthers, 12-11, will advance to the second round to meet Wayne Academy.
