Special to The Canton News
The new slate of Lion Club officers started the year off with a golf tournament fund raiser at the Canton Country Club. President Tamika Liddell sends a very heartfelt gratitude to all the players, sponsors and the Country Club for their support to the Lions.
She said, “It make me feel so good to see so many people willing to help the Lions by giving of their time and money to make the golf tournament a fun and successful event.”
Chairman for the tournament was Lion Mark Hopkins, and all club members were on board to solicit golfers, sponsors, and the varied details of the day.
Among the teams was Canton Country Club Ladies Golf Association President Nancy Cline, whose team included other local women golfers Laurie Dinkins and Sissy Kern.
Larry Johnson’s team won first place and received $500.
Simon Collier’s Bank Plus team came in second, and they won $400.
Hopkins said, “Even with the weather threatening rain, all had a good time making new friends and enjoying the beautiful greens of the Country Club.”
The Lions Club thanks all who came out and played. The money raised will go to support the programs and scholarships Lions offer the community.
