4H announces future shooting sports schedule

The Madison County S.A.F.E.T.Y 4H Group has announced the shooting sports schedule and encourages all who are interested to participate.

The schedule begins in August, so the group can be better prepared for next year. They will use the Canton Multipurpose Building and will have four opportunities to shoot each month. Practice sessions will include Air Pistol/Rifle and .22 Pistol/Rifle, as well as archery. 

Times for practices are 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30  p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Practice dates are September 7, September 8, September 20, September 21, October 4, October 5, October 12, and October 13. Dates for November are November 9, November 15, and

November 16. Dates for December are December 7, December 8, December 13, and December 14.

On July 15 and 16, Cade Slay of Canton (top) and Laia Cornelius of Madison (below) competed with dozens of other youth marksmen at the 4-H Shooting Sports State Invitational held at the MS Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy.
