Ms. Brangelia Brooks accepts new role as principal of Goodloe Elementary

Congratulations, Ms. Brangelia Brooks, on your new role as the principal of Jimmie M. Goodloe Elementary!

Ms. Brangelia Brooks is a native of Jackson, MS and a graduate of Lanier High School.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Jackson State University.  She also received her Master of Art in Teaching from Belhaven University.  Ms. Brooks received her administrative certification by completing the Mississippi Alternate Path to Quality School Leaders (MAPQSL) program.   She is currently completing her specialist degree in psychometry from Jackson State University.

 

Ms. Brooks has over seventeen years of experience in the public educational system.  She has served as assistant teacher, teacher, interventionist, and assistant principal.  She has worked in the following districts: Tunica County School District and Jackson Public School District.  Ms. Brooks began working in the Canton Public School District in August 2015 where she was third grade teacher at Goodloe Elementary School.  While at Goodloe, she maintained the highest average of students passing the Third Grade Gate assessment in the district.  

 

In 2017, she was transferred to McNeal Elementary School where she was promoted to interventionist.  In 2018, Ms. Brooks was promoted to assistant principal where she served for four years.  As assistant principal, Ms. Brooks contributed to increasing the school’s rating from a D to a consistent B. While at McNeal, Ms. Brooks had the following roles:

• Multi-Tiered System of Supports Chairperson

• 504 Plan Chairperson

• 21st Century After-School Site Coordinator

• Fixed Asset Clerk

• Instructional Coach

 

Ms. Brangelia Brooks is very passionate about student achievement and growth.  She believes with the right learning structures and safety nets in place all students can show significant growth.  She is excited to work with the Goodloe community to promote ongoing student success and build teacher capacity.

 

Ms. Brooks is a devoted mother to British Brooks, an incoming seventh grader at Porter Middle School.  She is an active member of Jackson Revival Center Church where she serves on the Hospitality Ministry.  Ms. Brooks enjoys traveling, reading, and fine dining.
