Quade Smith was recently welcomed to the Canton Academy Panther family as head baseball coach. Coach Smith is a 2013 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School, where he was a contributing part of the Cougar baseball and football teams.
After high school, he played baseball for two years at Hinds Community College, where he helped lead the Eagles to an NJCAA World Series national title game berth in 2014. As an Eagle, Quade was named MAJCA Player of the Week and was a two-time recipient of the Iron Eagle Award. He was also named First Team All-State and All-Tournament Team in the NJCAA World Series.
After Hinds, he continued his college career on a baseball scholarship at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Coach Smith has coached for three years at Northwest Rankin as head ninth grade coach and varsity football assistant coach. He is newly engaged to Rhae’Ven Ellis of Ridgeland.
