Brown named CPSD COVID-19 Coordinator

Canton Public School District (CPSD) welcomed Dr. Sharon Brown in her new role as the district’s COVID-19 coordinator for the 2021-2022 school year.

Dr. Sharon Brown was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, and is a graduate of Rockford East High School. After graduation, she attended Belhaven University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master of Art in Teaching. Dr. Brown also holds an Educational Specialist degree from Mississippi College and an Educational Doctorate from William Carey University both in Educational Leadership.


Dr. Brown is married to Coach Peter Brown, a retired educator and a native of Canton, and they have three children, Dameon, Payton, and Garrett.


Dr. Brown taught Career Discovery and ICT II at Nichols Middle School for tne years. She also taught for three years at Porter Middle School before becoming an Assistant Principal at Canton High School for the past three years with the mission, along with her colleagues, to improve the community through education. She now serves as the district’s COVID-19 coordinator.
