Canton Lions update: celebrating McPhail

Special to The Canton News

Approximately twenty-five Lions were on hand to celebrate with Lion John McPhail from St. Catherine’s for his fifty years of being a Canton Lion. John’s son, David, participated in the luncheon at the Canton Country Club.

Lion McPhail served as the speaker and gave a very moving and motivational speech about the helpful work Lions do to support the city and fellow citizens.  He reminded the group that the Canton Lions have touched lives throughout the city with the years of chicken barbeques, annual auctions, eyeglasses programs, and helping with city projects.

He wrapped up his speech with a challenge to do one’s best every day, because, according to Lion McPhail, “Life goes by really fast.”

President Moses Thompson presented McPhail with a fancy Lions plaque for the fifty years of service, and everyone took turns getting pictures made with this semi-centennial Lion.
