Canton Elks award grants to non profits

Special to The Canton News

Canton Lodge 458 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) recently awarded grants to two local service organizations.  Our Daily Bread received a check for $2,500 through the Gratitude Grant program, which is given to local organizations that reach out to feed those in need.

A check for $5,500 was awarded to In His Steps Ministries through the Beacon Grant program, which supports efforts in local communities to educate, combat juvenile delinquency, and provide relief for the distressed or underprivileged.

The grants were made possible by donations from the members of the Canton Elks Lodge to the Elks National Foundation (ENF).  The ENF, in turn, returns the investments to local lodges in the form of grants for use within their communities.

The Canton Lodge, chartered in 1899 and located on the east side of the Square for over 120 years, is also involved in programs which serve military veterans, provide scholarships to high school seniors and promote drug awareness.
