Recently, Betsy Sligh was named the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation photo contest winner for 2021. Sligh entered the State Women’s Leadership Committee Photo Contest in all three categories and won first place in the “My Scenic Farm” and the “At Home on the Farm.” Sligh’s pictures will become part of a collection of quality photography that Farm Bureau Federation will use to depict life on farms in Mississippi. Adrian Garrison, Woman’s Chairman for Madison County Farm Bureau said, “We are delighted to have a Madison County entry win two state awards.”
The Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program offers awards for Farm Woman of the Year and Teacher of the Year. The program also sponsors several contests for students and the winners receive cash awards at the county and state levels. A two-day teachers workshop is available. The objective of the workshop is to provide information to educate students and the general public as to the importance of agriculture. Mississippi Farm Bureau Women offer an educational, fun two days with workshops, resource materials, and hands-on classroom activities. Teachers receive 1.4 CEUs for attending.
Farm Bureau offers several scholarships for members enrolled in an agriculture degree at a Mississippi university or community college. Scholarships range in value from $500 to $4,000.

The Madison County Women Committee is looking for nominees in all contests and scholarships, and suggestions can be submitted to the county office.
