Canton Ninth Grade Academy teacher Teena Ruth was selected as the Mississippi Council on Economic Education (MCEE) 2021 Economics Teacher of the Year.
MCEE officials said Ruth is a “wonderful example” of what can be achieved in the classroom when a teacher is passionate about the topic of economics and personal finance.
MCEE leaders also praised Ruth’s success at CNGA with the Stock Market Game.
She has been selected twice to attend the National Jump$tart Educators Conference. In addition, she also became a Master Teacher of Personal Finance.
MCEE recognized Teena Ruth at the MCEE Forum on American Enterprise November 4 at the Jackson Convention Complex.
As the Teacher of the Year, Ruth will receive $500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2022 Council for Economic Education Conference that will be held in Washington, D.C.
She will also automatically be recommended for the 2022 National Council for Economic Education Teacher of the Year award.
