Goodloe makes singular touchdown in championship game

By Courtney Warren

With the Greenville Christian Saints (GCS) known for shut out scores, the Canton Academy (CA) Panthers weren’t going to go home without putting numbers on the board. Marcus Goodloe, senior for the CA varsity Panthers, scored the only touchdown after a 15-yard fumble recovery during the MSAIS 3A state championship against the Saints.

“Scoring the touchdown in the state championship game meant a lot to me and my team. I think it just made a statement to let everybody know that, even though we were losing, we haven’t quit, and that we’re not intimidated by the other team. It also meant a lot to me that I was able to score the last touchdown for our team on my senior season in the state championship. While it didn’t end the way I wanted it to, I wouldn’t rather play for any other team in the world. I love all my brothers,” said Goodloe.
