Panthers learn life saving skills

Panthers learn life saving skills

By Courtney Warren

A Canton Academy fifth grader can now save your life! In correlation with their study of the circulatory and respiratory systems in science, fifth graders participated in Mississippi CPR Stars training and are now CPR certified.

According to the American Red Cross,  CPR can significantly improve someone’s chance of surviving when bystanders take prompt action. Even if someone survives cardiac arrest, they may suffer permanent brain damage when they don't receive enough blood flow and oxygen to the brain.

CPR certification can help prevent brain damage and death by keeping oxygenated blood moving throughout the body. Another benefit of CPR is that this life saving training is for everyone. It only takes a few hours, and it can give individuals the skills and confidence to act in an emergency and help save a life.
