It was a proper cat-fight when Canton took on Holmes County Central on Thursday. Canton was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Holmes County Central. Considering the Tigers have won four contests by more than 14 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Sadrevian Devine was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Alonzo Reed, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Canton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 2.8 in the others. As for Holmes County Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3-4.
There is plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Canton will challenge rival Gentry at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Holmes County Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Cleveland Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
