The Pine Grove Association will host its Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Canton, MS, Friday - Saturday, June 14 - 15, 2024 to honor 159 years of freedom. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated remembrance of the ending of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth marks that day with festivities to promote and cultivate knowledge and appreciation of African American history and culture. II
The Juneteenth events will begin with a Block Party on Friday, June 14th at 6 p.m. on the downtown Canton Square. Gospel singing, spoken word, musical entertainment, including line dancing, vendors, adult games, and children’s activities will be a part of the line-up.
The 5K Freedom Run/Walk will be held Saturday, June 15th at 7:30 a.m. The registration fee is $30 per person or $100 per team of 4 people. The race will begin and end on Canal Street, at the site of the future H.O.P.E Center.
A free Health Fair will be held Saturday, June 15th at 9 a.m. at the H.O.P.E. Center site.
A free Expungement Clinic will be held Saturday, June 15th at 9 a.m. at the Baptist Family Life Center.
