Students in the Canton High School Equivalency Program honored notable African Americans who have earned their GEDs in honor of Black History Month.
Students were required to conduct research on the person of their choice and present their findings. They had to go into great detail on how they related to the individual who obtained their GED and why they received it. Teachers report that the pupils were enthusiastic to share their knowledge and were fully involved in the exercise. All things considered, they say the task was motivating and inspiring, prompting students to keep pushing for achievement as they make their way through their academic careers.
Presenters included Stephon Tucker, Cortney Reed Jr., Vandell Washington, Jaleon Manning, Qudaruise Giles, Nyairia Jones and Angela Hernandez, as well as Decorya Shavers.
