Canton Academy Panthers chess team ready to check

Canton Academy recently created a chess team and has been competing around the state. The chess team competed at the Piney Woods tournament, where third grader Christian Reeves came in second place and third grader Connor Perez came in third place in the elementary division.  Seventh graders Ava Hughes, Jasper Branning and Allie Hart Lyon tied for third in the middle-school division. Seventh grader Rut Garcia took third in the rated division.
