Special to The Canton News

Priestley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Canton received a grant from the Mississippi State Department of Health to implement healthy activities for the congregation and the community. Priestley Chapel was one of fifty churches in Mississippi to receive funding from the Office of Health Equity.

The Be in Good Health: Implementing Faith-Based Preventive Health Initiatives program dates are September 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024. Priestley Chapel will host educational workshops, healthy cooking classes, Zumba workouts, honor health observances, and develop other health-related projects for the community.

The church created the Health & Healing at the Chapel project to implement the program. The Health & Wellness Ministry is spearheading activities and working with other auxiliary ministries to execute a comprehensive plan to meet the church and community needs.
