Canton Garden Club Update

By Guest Columnist Jessica Stein

Tuesday, September 12, the Canton Garden Club gathered at the Duncan M. Gray Center in the Rose Hill House, part of the original Allison’s Wells spa facility built in the late 1800s. The verdant conference center and campgrounds held the first meeting administered by the new president Susan Buttross Riddell.

Hosts Patty Clark and Joy Foy received twenty-three members and guests for the selected program and proceedings. Rev. Beth Foose presented mother-daughter owned business, Little Bluestem Farm. Little Bluestem specializes in seasonal cut flowers and sustainably grown bespoke arrangements, especially for weddings planned at their idyllic venue.

Canton Garden Club members left with hand-tied herb bundles, party favors from the hostesses. Individuals may join Canton Garden Club meetings upon invite from a member. The club was founded in 1935, shortly after Jackson’s first national club origination in 1929.
