Word of Prayer: New 3:16 Church ministries begin to grow in Canton

By Guest Columnist Jay Cook

Did you know that Canton and Madison County have a brand new church?

Dr. Donnie South and Dr. Jay Cook (both of Canton) sensed the need for and heard the longing from many for a new church for our community. 3:16 Church launched on June 18 with excitement and anticipation.

Part of the name (3:16 Church) is familiar to most of us. Jesus is recorded as saying in John 3:16, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” This verse is the church’s passion.

But why a new church? Madison County is home to approximately 110,000 great people. There is not enough space in our church buildings for them all. And, since 2020, it is obvious that most of our neighbors are not involved in our churches. 3:16 Church is joining the work of many of our faithful churches to reach our community.

3:16 Church wants to foster hope – in a culture struggling to cope with life and change.

We want to point to the source of direction – in a world full of people who feel lost and aimless.

We want to provide community – at a time when people long for connection but don’t have it.

We want to focus on purpose – sharing the salvation and freedom we’ve discovered through Jesus.

We want to encourage spiritual growth – since we cannot face life’s struggles in our own strength (successfully), and we must prepare for what lies ahead in eternity.

3:16 Church wants to do these things and more for our community – no matter who you are – no matter where you live – no matter what you have – no matter what you’ve gone through.

We invite you to join us this week for worship. 3:16 Church meets at MadCAAP – 181 Watford Parkway Drive, Canton – at 11 a.m. on Sundays.
