The Canton Lions have assigned each member a week to be responsible for a program in the new fiscal year, which began in August. Rolanda Anderson, a new member, started things off with a ZOOM presentation by Dr. Thomas Dobbs. The club enjoyed visiting with Dr. Dobbs through ZOOM. Getting members participating in the programing is President Moses Thompson’s first effort of recruiting members to come back to the meetings.
“Being in the funeral home business, I am very aware of the dangers of public meetings, but Dr. Dobbs reminded us that getting vaccinated is our best line of defense against COVID. I want our members to get back involved in doing our civic duty to the community and keeping abreast of new things happening in Canton, and that starts with attending weekly meetings,” Moses said.
Canton Lions meet every Wednesday, at noon, at the Canton Country Club for public interest programs and fellowship. Meeting in the ballroom, there is ample space for social distancing.
Members, and those interested in becoming a member, are encouraged to join the group each week. Those interested can also keep up with the Lions by following Canton Lions Club on Facebook.
