CCC ready to make a difference

CCC ready to make a difference

   By Courtney Warren
With the tagline, “Make a difference in a child, in a family, and in this city,” the Canton Connect Center recently opened doors in preparation for serving the community.

The Connect Center is aiming to serve the people of Canton through the English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and tutoring services that it will provide.

“Through this, we hope to develop lasting relationships with the people of Canton and to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and the city,” said Anthony Britt, the missions pastor at First Baptist Church Madison.

Britt is currently the director of the Connect Center. Most of the volunteers are retired school teachers.

“As a church, we realized that we were serving in various parts of the world, but we wanted to be sure that we serve locally, too. Through the pandemic, we saw that ESL classes and tutoring services would be very helpful for the community of Canton. After prayer and discussion, we became excited for how God will use the ministry of the Connect Center,” said Britt.

In the midst of COVID-19, the center is adhering to CDC guidelines and following closely with how the schools are handling the pandemic. The actions of schools will have a great influence on how the Connect Center functions regarding COVID-19.
